Week 1 match schedule released
We previously promised to announce the first week game schedule on Monday, but we just couldn’t wait to share the awesome matches we have prepared for you on the first week of BESL Pro Season 2!
The second season of Baltic eSports League will debut on Monday, 13th of August with sixteen best Baltic state CS:GO teams battling for 8 weeks for their share of the €9,000 prize pool and a chance to acquire themselves one of the four spots at this season’s LAN finals held in Tallinn, Estonia at Saku Suurhall arena from 20th till 21st of October!
As previously announced, season 2 has undergone a few changes and one of those is in regards to the regular season play format. This season teams are going to battle it out in a 16 team Best-of-1 round robin format meaning that each team is going to play 2 matches per week for the first 7 weeks, while finishing off the last week of the competition with 1 last game, totaling to 15 games played over the time period of 8 weeks. *Match of the Week
This season the Match of the Week (MOTW) games will be picked by our casters and head admin. Every single one of them will pick 1 match that sticks out the most in their eyes and give their reasoning of why You should not miss it! Here are their picks for this week’s MOTW games:
“This is easy! I’m picking the Season 1 Grand Final rematch of SkinLordz vs 1337HUANIA (15.08 20:00)! Last time these teams met we witnessed a thriller that ended in two maps going into overtime with the Lithuanians coming out on top and clenching the Season 1 champions title. Knowing the history between these two teams I think we’re bound to have a close game here as both of these teams would really want to start off the season strong!”
Renārs “Emvy” Dzintars
“As a fan of classical approach to Counter Strike, my pick for the Match of the Week is going to be wolsung vs WASD Sports (15.08 19:00). Both of these teams generally consist of players with a lot of experience, and judging by the fact that WASD Sports were definitely a force to be reckoned with in the previous season, mixed with wolsung having the additional backup of the new talent brokky (first Latvian to reach FPL), this match is going to be, as the youngster would say, lit af!”
Renārs “Veneficus” Šēnfelds
“My first two picks for Match of the Week would have definitely been both of the games that my colleagues already picked, but if I’m going even further into this then I would say that the game between MightyWolves and AUTOCLUTCH (13.08 21:00) is an interesting one to follow. Latvians have just finished off a two and a half week bootcamp here in Riga, while Estonians (for those of you who might have missed this) are the old team WORTEX core with few very strong additions to their firepower. Add two of these things together and we’ve a match on our hands!”
