ayned vs XGR eSports

Gametime: 17th of September, 19:00
Result: 19:15 on de_cache

MVP: Abyssal - 34 kills, 20 deaths, 92 ADR

The Estonian domestic duel started off with ayned taking the knife round and choosing to start on the CT side. As teams went into the first pistol round it was tul1p who opened things up with four kills shutting down XGR eSportsattempt to take the A site (1:0). Fasting forward to the first gun round (3:0) is where XGR eSports find their first success as ZIILA opens up A with three frags paving the way for his team to take the site (3:1).

The momentum, however, was very short lived as ayned immediately took back control of the game by winning the following two rounds (5:1). Even though situation looked grim at that point for XGR eSports they weren’t ready to give up just yet as the decision to slow down the game and start approaching their T side more thoughtfully earned them a 7:8 half in the end.

As teams switched sides ayned once again came out on top in the pistol round as Abyssal, together with tul1p, secured them the round on B site (8:8). Ayned kept going as after they were done wiping XGR eSports eco buys (10:8) they went on to win four more rounds (14:8).

In the 25th round XGR eSports finally answered back as KrassNer’s defence on A site restored faith in the ability to pull this game back as they once again went on a few round win-streak making the game once again a tie (14:14).

In the 29th round ayned very cleverly faked out their opponents with two players drawing attention towards B while they themselves walked into A site that was clear. Despite the after-plant situation being a 3v4 swicher’s two crisp headshots earned them the round in the end (15:14). However, the following round was all about XGR eSports as zenki’s flank paid huge dividends pushing the game into overtime (15:15)!

While at that point it seemed like the overtime is going to be more of the same back and forth game, ayned players shifted in the next gear as Abyssal, zfx and swicher came up big round after round with multiple kills earning their team a very hard-though victory with a 19:15 scoreline!

“I think I might have picked a completely wrong game for my match of the week as the very first game of Week 6 was so action packed that it might as well have been labeled a MOTW! All game long ayned were just playing cat and mouse with XGR eSports eventually taking this into overtime where they just turned into a OT-beast! Non-stop aggression from players like zfx, Abyssal and swicher quickly shut down any last hope that XGR eSports had! Huge shoutout to Abyssal who’s 34-kill performance finally showed us why he was picked to play in this team. GG’s ayned, I now know what we can truly expect from you guys.”

Žalgiris vs 1337HUANIA

Gametime: 17th of September, 20:00
Result: 4:16 on de_overpass

MVP: Butters - 25 kills, 13 deaths, 114 ADR

VOD: here!

The second game of the evening started of with a small delay as 1337HUANIA guys were late to the match due to them playing an ESEA Advanced game that had gone into an overtime. In the end, they decided to abandon the game to avoid earning more penalty points that deduct percentage of your prize pool winnings in our competition (as per our rulebook).

Additionally a fun fact to note here is that 1337HUANIA’s ESEA game took place on the same map (overpass) that they had to play here against Žalgiris, so they were more than ready to play the map.

Talking about the game itself - it all started off with 1337HUANIA taking the knife round and going for that CT side. As teams hopped into the first pistol round it was 1337HUANIA who let their opponents inside the B site while crushing them afterwards with a solid retake (0:1). Game continued in a very fast-paced manner as seemingly in a blink of an eye 1337HUANIA were already up 0:9!

In the 10th round Žalgiris finally managed a round-win as they came out on top in the opening duels converting the advantage later on (1:9), but that was not enough to break 1337HUANIA as they came back strong in the following round once again dictating the pace of the game (1:10). First half then continued in a similar fashion eventually ending with a 3:12 scoreline at the halftime.

Upon the side switch nothing really changed in the grand scale of things and although Žalgiris did manage to take the pistol round (4:12) giving themselves a chance to come back into this game, 1337HUANIA did not want to play around as they immediately took the following four rounds to finish off the game 4:16!

“Well...silly old me thinking this could be an interesting game! Once I heard 1337HUANIA actually left their ESEA game to play against Žalgiris I just knew that this one will not end well for centronz & co! Even though I am a bit sad that we did not get to see Žalgiris starting on that CT side as I believe that scenario would have been a more interesting one than the one we had here, it is what it is and one lost knife round can essentially lead to your opponent getting the side they want and a game like this. As my colleague Veneficus would say - practice your knife rounds folks as they are the first thing that you have to win in order to start off the game your way!”

Team Redeye vs AUTOCLUTCH

Gametime: 17th of September, 21:00
Result: 6:16 on de_cache

MVP: zteeek - 24 kills, 11 deaths, 119 ADR

VOD: here!

The second domestic Estonian battle took place on cache once again as this time around AUTOCLUTCH took the knife round and chose to start CT. In the first pistol round Team Redeye went for a fast B split and while they did get the bomb down, AUTOCLUTCH managed to dismantle them pretty easily on the retake (0:1).

Afterwards AUTOCLUTCH started to build up their momentum as the after they were done wiping Team Redeye’s players in the second full eco round (0:2), they also took the first gun round by winning a 2v3 retake on B site (0:3), while following that one up with another anti-eco round win (0:4).

In the 5th round Team Redeye finally responded as their A site rush proved to be successful (1:4). While on it, Team Redeye managed to string two more rounds together making it a 3:4 game, but that was all she wrote for them in the first half as AUTOCLUTCH turned into AUTOWIN taking all the eight rounds that were left in the first half with a collective effort from all of their players on the defence (3:12).

After teams switched sides AUTOCLUTCH made sure that the game kept going in the same trajectory as they opened up the second pistol round with a fast mid to A rush catching their opponents off guard (3:13). When Team Redeye finally brought out guns (3:15) it seemed like a bit too late to bring this one back and even though they bounce back with three rounds in a row (6:15), they were still eventually shut down by the sheer fire-power of AUTOCLUTCH players (6:16).

MightyWolves vs wolsung

Gametime: 17th of September, 22:00
Result: 3:16 on de_cache

MVP: broky - 22 kills, 9 deaths, 138 ADR

VOD: here!

The last and final game of the evening between two Latvian teams began with MightyWolves taking the knife round and deciding to stick with CT side. The choice later on proved to be a wrong one as right from the get-go wolsung guys set the tempo of the game their way (as they always do)!

From the first pistol round where Whiskas and Warden killed all the CT’s (0:1), to the first gun round where YEKINDAR found two crucial opening kills in middle (0:4). From wolsung once again winning all the fights in middle as timings do not go MightyWolvesway (1:8), to broky racking up easy kills against MightyWolves eco with his AWP (1:9).

It just seemed like MightyWolves can’t get a break as wherever they went, whatever they did, nothing was working for them and whenever they gave an inch, wolsung took a mile! Needless to say that the first half kept going the same direction as even the clutch rounds couldn’t be won by MightyWolves as showcased in keen getting outplayed by broky in a 1v1 situation (1:12)!

In the end teams went into the halftime with the scoreline being 1:14 in favor of wolsung and while upon the side switch Flarich’s 3k secured MightyWolves the pistol round (2:14), things once again went south in the following round with wolsung picking up the seemingly unwinnable pistol force buy round in a wolsung-like manner (2:15) and eventually picking up another round in the following two to close out the game 3:16.

“Well, in theory it could have been a close game, but it just wasn’t! Even with a standin Warden subing for krii, wolsung looked just great, not to mention their ability to just win rounds with a few pistols...damn they are good! Props to YEKINDAR for his seemingly never-ending aggression that time after time broke MightyWolves’ defence and props to Whiskas who even though did not top-frag here, showed up once again with a very solid performance for the 6th week in a row! As for MightyWolves - while this is a crushing defeat they still can earn a spot in the top 4 and the games of last two weeks will make or break them!”
