Akatsuki dismantle Team Titan; round 4 matches drawn

The third week of BESL Pro Season 5 has now officially finished with all the sixteen teams playing out their Swiss group stage round 3 matches.

In case you have not heard about the Swiss format before, feel free to check out our season announcement article’s format section that has an in-depth explanation of how this format works.

Swiss round 3 recap

The third round of the Swiss group stage saw sixteen teams being divided into three categories:

  1. Teams that won both of their games (Win-Loss record 2-0)

  2. Teams that won one of the two games they had (Win-Loss record of 1-1)

  3. Teams that lost both of their games (Win-Loss record 0-2)

Starting from round 3 of the Swiss group stage, Teams are seeded using the Buchholz system that takes into consideration what level of opponents each Team has played against previously. It determines how hard a Team's route has been thus far by summing up the scores of their opponents.

After that, teams within the same category were matched up against each other based on the seeds they got according to the Buchholz system. However, this is done by keeping in mind the fact that during the Swiss group stage teams can’t play each other more than once. After a full week of play, here are the results:

Off-stream games:

deprEST [0-2] Timechasers (6:16 train, 7:16 nuke)

WORTEX [2-1] Team Medieval (16:12 mirage, 5:16 dust2, 16:7 overpass)

SACRAMENTO [2-0] Viktor (16:8 mirage, 16:2 dust2)

FRAGMINE [1-2] coluant  (16:7 inferno, 9:16 mirage, 8:16 dust2)

FIGURE05 [2-0] 1944 (16:10 overpass, 16:9 nuke)

(8:16 dust2, 9:16 nuke)

Lithuanian broadcast - 1337HUANIA [2-0] EoN
(16:10 dust2, 16:9 mirage)

As of right now, there are two teams that have already been eliminated from our competition as they have suffered a defeat in every single one of the weeks prior (Win-Loss record 0-3). Those are Team Medieval and FRAGMINE.

On the other hand, teams such as Akatsuki and 1337HUANIA have secured themselves a spot in the playoffs by making a flawless run through the Swiss group stage (Win-Loss record 3-0). For these two teams the competition continues on week six when the Single Elimination playoff bracket goes live.

Swiss round 4 matches

After the third round of matches, teams have been separated into two different categories:

  1. Teams that have won two of the three games that they have played (Win-Loss record 2-1)

  2. Teams that have won one of the three games that they have played (Win-Loss record 1-2)

Within these two categories, teams are seeded using the Buchholz system that takes into consideration what level of opponents each team has played against previously. It determines how hard a team's route has been thus far by summing up the scores of their opponents.

Here’s how it looks right now:

Game broadcasts

Just like last time, during the Season 5 online portion of games, we’re going to provide you guys with three different broadcasts - one for each of the Baltic state countries in their respective language!

However, for the LAN finals, we’re going to transition back into having one English broadcast in order to cater to a broader spectrum of viewers.

Here’s how it works:

  • Just like last season, our broadcast crew that operates in the studio in Riga, Latvia is going to bring you one best-of-three game series every Saturday at 16:00 Baltic time. These broadcasts are going to be streamed on BESL Pro YouTube channel and are going to feature three casters from Latvia - Emvy, S1D, and Gekons.

  • On the other hand, both Estonian and Lithuanian broadcasts are not going to follow a set schedule, but are rather going to pick-up games during the week based on caster availability. These broadcasts are going to be streamed on BESL Pro Estonia Twitch and on BESL Pro Lithuania Twitch channels respectively. The casters who are going to bring you the action are iiSy from Estonia and freemaN from Lithuania.

All three broadcasts will prioritize featuring teams from their respective countries.

Latvian match of the week

The first game series that has now been set in stone for the Latvian broadcast team to be featured on Saturday, 11th of January, at 16:00 Baltic time, is:

Team Titan vs Timechasers

Information about the games that are going to be featured on Lithuanian and Estonian broadcasts is going to be posted on our social media channels.

BESL Pro Season 5 is a seven-week competition between the sixteen best Baltic state CS:GO teams for their share of the €9,000 prize pool and the right to call themselves the best in Baltic states.

The four best teams from the online part of the competition are going to meet each other in the LAN finals happening on the 15th of February at Kipsala exhibition center in Riga, Latvia at the HyperTown Riga 2020 urban & esports festival.
